Located in Little Italy, this restaurant has a simple clean unremarkable decor that allows the food to shine and take centre stage. I first encountered this restaurant in the summer of 2010. Having found myself a rare winner at the casino, I decided to share my luck with a friend and treat ourselves to dinner. A concierge friend of his recommended Primo and Secondo and so off we went.
It was mid-week and so we were very fortunate to grab a seat without reservations. While you could leave it to chance, should you want to go, it would be a shame to miss out on the experience that awaits you, so do make a reservation to ensure there’s plenty of space for you.
While the menu items change to reflect the ingredients fresh for the season, there are some classics which have stood the test of time and will hopefully be on the menu for you to choose on your visit. Some of the classic dishes include the Gnocchi alla Gorgonzola - homemade potato gnocchi with a Gorgonzola cream sauce and my personal favourite Risotto ai Porcini con Olio di Tartufo Bianco eFormaggio Bagoss – carnoaroli rice risotto made with porcini mushrooms dressed with white truffle oil and bagoss shavings.
If you still have space for dessert after your meal there’s a delightful selection that won’t disappoint. Tiramisu and profiteroles will dazzle your eyes and satisfy your sweet tooth. While I mostly speak of the food, the restaurant also has an impressive selection of wines to pair with your dishes. Boasting a cellar with over 2000 bottles, there’s bound to be something for everyone’s taste.
